Postcard Check-In

  • A variety of postcards or images
  • 8+ people
  • 15-20min

Route

  1. Scatter the postcards, image side up on the ground.
  2. Ask the participants to have a good look at each card then stand beside the one which reflects how they feel.
  3. Invite the participants to say a few words about their choice, although they may not want to.

Wanderings

  • It could also be used to express emotions about difficult issues.
  • Helps identify similarities in the group and different ways of expression.

Wheel of Wellbeing

  • Printouts of wheel (5 segment circle)
  • pen, and paper
  • 6+ people
  • 15-20min

Route

  1. With each segment devoted to a well being characteristic
  2. Be active, keep learning, connect, take notice, give
  3. First discuss with the group what each segment could mean or examples of this.
  4. Then hand out the wheels for each participant to mark in each segment how often they engage in each characteristic.
  5. Close to the centre = Never
  6. Edge = Always
  7. They can then join the dots to see the shape of their wheel and perhaps places which need more attention.

Wanderings

  • Could be performed at beginning and end of programme to mark progress.
  • Change the five words to reflect interests of the group or theme of the project.
  • Gives a chance for group and personal reflection.

Divergent Thinking Quiz

  • Selection of riddles
  • Puzzles and brain teasers
  • pen and paper
  • 8+ people
  • 30 min

Route

  1. Split the group into teams of 3-5 and give each team a pen and paper
  2. Ask them to write down their answers to the questions, giving a 2 minute solving time.
  3. Reveal the answers after each question to keep it fast paced.

Wanderings

  • Find questions and brain teasers prior to quiz, adjust them to theme of the workshop.
  • Link with Ab busting.
